Dr. Gabriel Kamga holds a Ph. D in Geology from the University of Franche-Comte, Besançon, France, where he graduated in 1994. His academic and post-doctoral research focused on the Precambrian geology of the West and Central Africa. Gabriel has more than 20 years’ experience in the mining industry of Africa gained mostly with leading multinational mining companies (BHP Billiton and De Beers) where he provided a unique combination of technical and business expertise for negotiation, acquisition and development of exploration and mining projects in various countries in Southern, East, West and Central Africa.
During his international career with these leading multinationals, he held several senior technical and managerial positions of leadership. The most recent includes Senior Manager, Business Development at Samancor Manganese/BHP Billiton in Johannesburg, Country Manager BHP Billiton Gabon and Managing Director BHP Billiton World Exploration Gabon, from 2007 to 2011.
His key responsibilities included country representation for the BHP Billiton Group and its business sectors to key stakeholders including Government, Ngo’s and business partners, business development and strategy, resources development and planning. His deep understanding of the African mining sector, networking skill and high level government relationship and management was instrumental in the development of a multi-commodity business for the BHP Billiton group in Gabon.
Dr. Gabriel Kamga is also currently the Managing Director of Havilah Incorporated Resources (Pty) Limited, a multi-commodity exploration and mining company based in South Africa with activities focused on the development of mineral projects in the Sub-Sahara Africa.
